It Begins

I paid my deposit on a 1969 BMW 2002. The body is straight, there is no rust in the frame of the car and only minor bits of rust on the body. The engine was rebuilt about 65,000 miles ago by the late Franz Fechner and it is incredibly strong. The engine found this car sometime around August, 2006 and was installed by Dr. Kwan at Beyond 2. The transmission is great and I’m looking forward to having a car with working second gear syncros.

The previous owner had started to strip the paint to begin a restoration. I’ll pick up where he left off. The entire interior needs to be pulled out and re-done.

It’s time to sell the Landshark. I’ve enjoyed it, but the body is a little too far gone for me to really get the car back into shape.

Welcome

In May of 2007 I bought a 1973 BMW 2002. My wife and I were expecting our first child and we knew we would soon need a second car so I could commute to work. The thought of getting a used Honda Civic didn’t appeal to me. If I was going to get a used car, why not get something a bit different and a bit fun? I remembered riding in a friend’s 2002 once in high school and I had seen a few driving around the Bay Area over the years. A 2002 seemed like the perfect car. Great handling, not too expensive. Also, the car would also be a chance for me to really learn how a car works. But this isn’t a story about that car. This is the story about the Silver Bullet, my 1969 BMW 2002.
